Big Boi is ready to start his next venture. The OutKast MC has started a new label, called Purple Kids, with his daughter, Jordan, reports Billboard.
“My daughter just turned 16-years-old, and you can see it on MTV’s [My Super Sweet Sixteen], where they get cars, and things that depreciate and just don’t mean nothing,” BB said. “I wanted to give my child something that she can grow and build and nurture. So I gave her her own label.”
The label is set to launch in the next few weeks and will feature a roster of young musicians including 12 year-old Gabbie Rae, who has already appeared on The Tyra Banks Show.
In terms of his own career, the spitter’s next release is likely to be another solo album. “I had a conversation with [Island Def Jam record label chief] Barry Weiss, and he was like, ‘Hey Big, great album,’ and he’s ready for the next album,” he said. “And he wants it ASAP. So, you know, everything’s good.” —Nicole LoPresti

Chris Lighty Launches Site for New Artists

Chris Lighty, the head of Violator Management, is launching a new Web site where, for $10 hopeful artists can upload their music and industry insiders will listen and give feedback.
Pleaselistentomydemo.com will be live on Monday, May 16.
“We are in the Internet age,” Lighty told New York’s Daily News. “There are so many creative people out there. We are not reaching everybody. Just listen to the radio. It’s the same 15 artists all day everyday.”
The idea came to the manager behind 50 Cent and  Diddy about three years ago after the Bronx native noticed that people went to “American Idol” and YouTube looking for unsigned talent. For $10 bucks, the website will feature the best songs and even make them available to New York radio station Hot 97 for a shot at the airwaves.
“This will hopefully help music as a whole,” said Ebro Darden, Hot 97 program director. —Nicole LoPresti

Chris Lighty Launches Website For Music Demos

Be next to rise in the world of Hip Hop. Click Here to get the BluePrint....Hip Hop Early

Manager to artists like 50 Cent, Diddy, Busta Rhymes and even Soulja Boy, Chris Lighty is ready to help up-and-coming rappers get heard. Lighty recently launched PleaseListenToMyDemo.com, a website that gives apiring artists a chance to get their music out there.

Please Listen To My Demo lets you showcase your music directly to A&R executives (the talent scouts and overseers of artist development) at major record labels. As an artist or a manager you get direct access to label execs, their feedback and their insights. We're sure many artists out there have at one time or another mailed off a demo to a record label, hoping that among the thousands of demos labels receive each year, yours might be listened to and if the stars were aligned correctly you'd hear back from them. Times have changed. The Internet has democratized a lot of things, from videos to photos, social connections, and most importantly, music. We want to take it a step further by connecting artists and managers of artists directly with record label A&Rs to listen, critique and collaborate. (Please Listen To My Demo)
