Prolific New Orleans rapper Curren$y kept his hot streak going with the recent Alchemist collaboration Covert Coup, and now he’s ready to setup his first official major label album under a new deal with Warner Bros. Spitta just announced he will release a pre-album to the full-length entitled Weekend At Burnie’s on June 28.
The set, which will be entirely produced by the duo Monsta Beatz except for one song, has yet to receive an official tracklist. Its lead single, “#jetsgo,” is the only non-Monsta Beatz track. Produced by Rahki, the lush song was officially released online in tandem with Covert Coup. Monsta Beatz will be most familiar to Curren$y fans for a menacing, piano-laden burner entitled “Roasted” that appeared on 2010's Pilot Talk. –Carter Maness
